Straight Male Friend has your back! Advice and insight from guys you can really trust.
Straightmalefriend.com is the brainchild of a couple of Bay Area media vets, Marcus Osborne and Matt Staudt. In the fall of 2006, ABC launched a reality show called, “How To Get The Guy.” The show centered around four successful thirty-something professional women who just couldn’t seem to find the right guys in the City By The Bay. Marcus was brought in as part of a group of “regular guy relationship counselors.”
During this particular episode, Marcus and three other men were seated with the four bachelorettes. There was a big fish bowl placed between the two groups. In the fishbowl, were questions from the four women. The ladies had been asked to think about any and every question, unedited, unfiltered, and uncensored they’ve ever had about men, write them down, and place them in the bowl.
The gentlemen were to reach in and read questions and provide answers to those questions. That’s when the light bulb went on. It seemed that when it came to affairs of the heart, women would always reach out to their best girlfriends or their best gay friends. Marcus figured women should be talking to their straight male friends instead. Couldn’t they give more accurate insight on guys?
